Venture-Capital Ready is an initiative launched by the Small Scale Food Processor Association. This fully funded investment training program is specifically designed for established food businesses throughout Canada. Its primary objective is to empower women entrepreneurs, ensuring they are well-prepared and confident as they navigate the investment process. As part of our commitment, FEAD is dedicated to providing expert coaching and serving as a training partner to assist women in their preparation for venture capital.

The Science of VC Funding
Venture-Capital Ready emphasizes the science behind securing venture capital and the importance of excelling in addressing key questions. For women founders, answering these questions well can lead to raising millions more over their startup's life. The Investoready© program, part of the training, equips them with essential knowledge and skills for Investor Q&A sessions, potentially increasing their funding success.
Who Should Join?
Are you a woman founder in the agri-food sector? No ownership percentage needed if your company is woman-led. Whether you're an existing or new Canadian company with growing sales and aspirations to scale, this program suits you. No revenue restrictions. Designed for founders dedicating 40 hours to learn about financing and investment capital.
Application Process
1. Assessment: Register and complete the assessment form to determine your eligibility. We will notify you of your eligibility status. Once eligible, complete the Business Intake Form and Action Plan to provide us with more information about your business and areas where you need assistance.
2. Coaching Support: A coach will work closely with you to prepare the information you need to move forward. Coaching may be one-on-one or in groups, depending on your specific business needs.
3. Complete Investoready© Program: This comprehensive twelve-week program will teach you how to manage critical investor question-and-answer sessions through role-playing and expert feedback.
4. Join a ‘Pitch Party’: Pitch parties, hosted by the financial services firm SVX, will allow you to present your pitch to your peer group and receive valuable feedback. Interested investors will also be in attendance.
6. Final Step: Strike a Deal - When an investor has indicated interest in your business, we will assist you in preparing the necessary documents to be submitted to a private Deal Room, where you and your investor can communicate privately.
5. Use the Investor Pipeline: Join the Investor Pipeline, where your company will be viewed by potential investors. Use your new skills to pitch your business effectively.
